Isaac Newton Pennsylvania farmer and dairyman, Isaac Newton served as the <a href="http://mallhistory.org/items/show/289">first United States Commissioner of Agriculture</a>. Under Newton, the agency focused on research and education, disseminating information to farmers throughout the nation.
