The March on Washington for Jobs and Freedom, one of the largest civil rights demonstrations in US history. Marching for social and economic equality, the crowd stretched from the Washington Monument to the Lincoln Memorial.
Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. delivered his
"I Have A Dream Speech" on its steps. The march influenced Congress to pass the Civil Rights Act (1964) and the Voting Rights Act (1965).
