{"exhibit":{"title":"Were kids always welcome on the Mall?","description":"
Children have always come to the Mall to play, work, sightsee, learn, and join celebrations and demonstrations. During the 1800s, the Mall was a park, playground, and sports field, and even a place where some children worked. During the 1900s, children still played and worked on the Mall, but they participated more and more in its expanding political and educational life. Museums promoted youth education. Children were part of some of the nation's most important political and social protests. Children are even celebrated on the Mall with a special memorial. <\/p>","credits":"","featured":0,"public":1,"theme":"","theme_options":null,"slug":"children-on-the-mall","added":"2013-03-21 09:51:49","modified":"2013-09-22 20:47:39","owner_id":6,"use_summary_page":1,"cover_image_file_id":null,"id":18},"item":{"item_type_id":6,"collection_id":null,"featured":0,"public":1,"added":"2013-04-03 11:33:26","modified":"2014-03-28 13:00:48","owner_id":6,"id":272}}
